Belbin Team Roles qualified practitioner Team Role Profiling A team role as defined by Dr Meredith Belbin is: "A tendency to behave, contribute and interrelate with others in a particular way." Belbin team roles describe a pattern of behaviour that characterises one person’s behaviour in relationship to another in facilitating the progress of a team. Before one can work on the development of a team one has to understand the make up of that team and to that extent Belbin team roles identifies strengths and weaknesses within a team, enabling those teams and the individuals within the team to evaluate and adjust based on external demands. Step 1 is a self – perception inventory which individuals complete online. This establishes their team role preferences. Step 2 is the feedback session given either individually or as a group. At this point each person has an understanding of how they see themselves, working within a team. It is also valuable for Babcock DynCorp to have this information for future reference. Step 3 is to obtain Observer Assessments for each individual to round out the picture to give a full understanding of yourself within a team. Develop Life can offer Belbin assessments in-house.. |
